Love Beer at Borough

Helping People Love Beer Better

We're so thrilled with the recent success of the Thornbridge meet the brewer sessions that we're planning a whole calendar of events and would like to ask you who you'd like to see.

The criteria are:
Must have cask
Must brew more than five beers

And if any breweries in particular prove very popular in this straw poll we'll do our very best to get them down to Borough for you.

I'd love to see anything from USA. Harviestoun would be good.
I'd definitely see Thornbridge or BrewDog again.

I've been thinking some more... I was going to add Dark Star, but there's no need now. Also, Moor Beer (I only just heard about them but i'm intrigued already!).

I'm pretty sure I met this guy about 18 months ago, I think Phil Lowry introduced me to him... I shall go back through the memory banks/blog/notebooks!

Thanks for your feedback Mark, appreciated.

Tony Allen at Phoenix is very knowledgeable and brews some very good beer.

Dark Star (UK) please, Stone or Russian River from US, the people who brew XX Bitter from Belgium or what about somethign crazy like Lambrate from Milan?

Ahh, Dylan I'm so sorry, Dark Star we've already done this year, the truly crazy Greg Koch from Stone was over (although not for a meet the brewer but has signed the wall in the Rake, as well as causing me to have a few headaches) but Russian River next year might be a possibility if their beers start coming into the UK a bit more frequently.

XX Bitter is only one beer brewed by weekend enthusiasts so it would be a very short meet the brewer indeed but I shall take a peek at the Lambrate from Milan - the problem with Italian beers is not that people don't want to sell them, they are just sooooo darn expensive! Maybe I can get a collective of Italian brewers to come over, who knows, it'd make my day at least!

Russian River (as of Nov last year) brew 17 times a year at their production brewery, and all of that beer is sold through their distribution network in Calif. I asked about the UK, and it didn't seem to be on any radar back then, however, their distribution network has some dovetails with Utobeer's, so logistically it wouldn't be impossible. How much and how often, though? Big question...

Good present well pointed as my mate who's prone to malapropisms once said! Will look into it further...

Should also have said - RRBC don't cask...

Not such an issue with the Americans we've discovered... thanks for adding that though : )

Brooklyn Brewery? Their chocolate stout is yummy.

Hey Theresa, I'm not sure Garrett would ever find the time in his schedule : ) But hell, I'll give it a go!

Cheers for the suggestion.

Festive Foodie Fun

Good afternoon all!

Well, as we all wait for that snow to fall let me just give you something to look forward to, my festive food & beer tasting at Borough on Sunday.

Rather than rushing around a dull supermarket, the market is open on Sunday so why not enjoy some artisan food & drink charms and then wind-down with one of my tasting sessions.

An absolute bargain at just £25, for beers like Gale's Prize Old Ale '07 Vintage, Fuller's 2009 Vintage, Bateman's Rosey Nosey, O, Ho, Ho from Otley and a special Santa surprise of very rare proportions!

These will be matched with such delights as Mrs King's award-winning pies, cheese from Neal's Yard, some superb smoked salmon and seriously indulgent choccy delights - all sourced from the market.

So, if you fancy coming along then you can get tickets at the Rake or the Utobeer stand on Borough Market, or if you email melissa@love-beer.co.uk with a phone number we'll call for a card payment.

Cheers!
