I hear that, the newst restraunt in middlesbrough, Akbars, has loads of Wine but no beer. Its lack of exercise that gives me a little beer belly
They say foreign beer that comes over from other countries to the U.S. has formalydahyde in it to perserve it from spoiling to be able to sell in the States.

We are hunting for the best beer in the universe and are also always on the look out for great beer tips, sites and blogs. So please feel free to send us ideas and be sure to check our Beer Viking Blog: http://www.beerviking.com/
This was a jolly good event by the sounds of it, unfortunately I was only able to pop along on the Sunday but there were a few good beers left and the atmosphere was jolly and the owners seemed thrilled, which was great.

Ha ha ha! I've removed a couple of these spam comments from my blog recently as well, absolutely priceless! I may start leaving them on for comedy value!

Very refreshing to read knowledgeable comments on real ale from someone like yourself who , lets be honest, does not fit the stereotypical perception of a real ale drinker. The" glass ceiling "has been truly shattered !

Hey Melissa - how's everything going in the beer world across the pond?

Hi Daniel, thanks for your kind comments, I agree that beer should sell beer but my biggest problems is that people want to pigeon hole either drinkers or beers and that then stops people getting the great joy of trying new things.

Hi Melissa, just got home from being a long time away, got a pile of post including three what's brewing to read and enjoyed your articles. I do wish that women including my Mum and Girlfriend enjoyed Real Ale, they don't know what they're missing out on. I'm quite a PC person, but the ironic thing is that I think, having seen your website is that you are far more interesting (and attractive, if you want to know) than than the girl on the page and you know 1000 times more about beer than she does. Sex shouldn't sell anything to Real Ale drinkers, only the beer should.

Regards, Dan

Tapping into the American Dream

Ooooh have I got news for you! To mark the start of the American beer festival at the White Horse this weekend (will sooo see you there!) there's a massive whisky-aged cask of Meantime's London Porter being tapped at noon on Friday.

I'm not sure what this has to do with the American festival and care even less because I can't wait to try it!

The American beers at the festival will include cask brews from Sierra Nevada, which I love, Victory which I've only tried bottled of and am a bit ambivalent about at this stage and Stone Brewery - which is bringing out the big guns in the form of a smoked porter with vanilla pods in the cask, a Pale Ale with coriander and an extra oak-chipped version of Arrogant Bastard – all of which will have extra dry hops in the cask to keep the beers in tip top condition.

Keg beers on offer will include a choice from the Goose Island,Flying Dog, Anchor, Great Divide and Left Hand Breweries and Victory Prima Pils, as well as a selection of English Ales using American hops, like Saltaire's Cascade and Brodies' Californian.

As I said, see you there!
